WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is the art of spiritual healing which has its origin in Japan. The word ‘Reiki’ is made up of two words- ‘Rei’ which means ‘universal life’ and ‘ki’ which means ‘energy’. Reiki is not confined to any particular community or religion and can be practiced by all. Reiki is not a type of massage but a subtle form of energy that works using the spiritually guided life force energy. Reiki is the ‘life energy’ which flows from all living beings. Reiki practitioners work on the belief that every being has the ability to connect with their healing energy which can be used for strengthening themselves and helping others.
It is believed that an individual’s ‘ki’ i.e. the energy should be free-flowing and strong as it brings a person’s mind and body in a positive state of health. Weak or blocked energy can lead to symptoms of emotional and physical imbalance. A typical Reiki session helps in easing stress and mental fatigue which supports the body to create an environment for healing on all the levels- emotional, physical and mental. The Reiki session is often pleasant and rejuvenating and used for personal wellness.
